Why do you blog?
I have a need to connect and share my life with the world, or at least my little slice of it. Here's a little confession… this isn't my first blog. For one reason or another I've abandoned my past attempts, but I always come back to blogland - this time I am here to stay!
What are your favorite and least favorite things about blogging?
My absolute favorite thing is the community… I love connecting with like-minded women who I'd never meet without the magic of blogging. My least favorite is the time commitment it takes to keep a successful blog running (hence why some of my past blogs slipped away). I'm a busy working mom with commitments in church and in my community… I truly don't have the 'time' to blog… but I make the time because I've learned over the years that it's simply something that my soul needs.
What are some of your hobbies outside of blogging?
I am a hobby hoarder. It's true - but admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery, right?
I love to try new things; when I do, I'm all-in… I research every last detail I can to master the subject, buy all the supplies that I can afford, and play away! But I also find that I tend to move on quickly, so I am trying to balance between enjoying my passion to learn new things and my need for space and sanity in my life! :)
Right now I am hooked on art journaling, and of course there are the old standby's of scrapbooking and paper crafting… I don't have the time to devote to either, but they never really go away. I'd love to get into the whole Project Life movement, but haven't jumped in yet.
In the past I've dabbled in other hobbies, including candle making, crochet, cross stitch, digital design, sewing, and cake decorating.
Tell me a little about the Jessica behind the blog - some fun facts we might now know from your blog!
I love coffee (not Starbuck's though!), dill pickles and cotton candy
I have a penchant for penguins and the color purple… not sure where either obsession came from, but I snagged a purple glass penguin in an antique shop when I was in High School… I think he might be the root of both! :)
I'm technically 'gifted' (I even graduated college and high school with the 4.0's to prove it), but I'm more at home among 'normal' people than academics
I am allergic to my wedding ring… I'm thinking of getting a small tattoo on my wrist, but I'm afraid I'd be allergic to the ink
I'm married to Batman (you'll have to continue reading my blog as I reveal the details over time, but it's true, I promise!)
I've always wanted to write teen fiction... another of those passions that I just don't have the time for, but the bug is still there
Just because she's a pretty awesome girl, I'll ignore the fact that she doesn't like Starbucks. More for me, right?? ;) Jessica has got some awesome plans for The Colorful Ones this Fall. Keep your eyes peeled for her love story, her daughter's birth story, and a bucket list! And she's promising more awesome recipes like this moscato blackberry cupcake one (can you say YUM?!) , printables and more! Dang, looks like Fall is going to be a busy time for miss Jessica. Don't miss out on all the awesome things she'll be coming up with.
Stay tuned, and be sure to follow The Colorful Ones on Facebook for the latest updates!

Yay! Thanks for the feature! I've been knocked down for the last week or so with a nasty bout of bronchitis, but I am ready to get back to regular blogging - I've got 2 recipe posts already in the works and lots of other goodies up my sleeve ;) God Bless!
